Why You Need to Blog

I’ll give you 7 good reasons why you need to blog.

1. Blogging keeps you sharp.

Blogging is a creative process. It engages your mind and helps you keep that mental edge. It makes you smarter, and, dog gone it, the world desperately needs smarter people!

2. Blogging positions you as an expert.

“The pen is mightier than the sword”, even when the “pen” is a keypad and the “paper” a word processor. It’s still true – the mighty ones, the ones who are most respected, are those who know how to write and communicate well. When you blog, you are being a mighty warrior – someone others look up to.

3. Blogging increases your visibility.

We all know that in order to generate leads and sales, or just to get the attention we crave, we have to remind people that we exist. Just send ’em a gentle reminder that, hey, you’re there, and you care.

4. Blogging leads to discovery.

When you write, and write with the intent of sharing it with the world, you discover more about yourself and the world around you. This is a good thing. It makes the world smaller and more personal.

5. Blogging is a way to give.

It’s very easy to get caught up in what we need and what we want. Sometimes the best way to receive is by being the first to give. Share your expertise with the world. It will be a better place for it.

6. Blogging helps build relationships.

Have you ever tried to use phone book advertising to build relationships with people? How did that work out for you? Yeah, I’ll bet it cost a lot of money, too, huh? Man, we’re in the digital age now. Take advantage of it. It’s FREE for cryin’ out loud!

7. Blogging improves your search engine ranking.

I guess I was just assuming that that is something that is important to you. If not, go ahead and disregard this point.
