I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the practice or art of meditation. If you are, and you practice it regularly, you’ll understand what I’m about to say. For, often times, when a person meditates, you receive a “message” of sorts. As I was meditating today, I received such a message. It was actually in the form of a question, but I don’t feel like it came from me. I feel like it was asked of me.
The question was, “What have you got to give the world?”
This question could actually be interpreted in two ways. The first way would be, “What gift have you been given that the world could benefit from?” The other way would be, “What gift have you been given that you feel a burning desire, or an obligation, to offer to the world?”
Either way, it’s a great question.
It’ll get you off your seat. It’ll get your focus off of yourself or how negative you might feel, or fears you might have. It will help you to realize that there is something unique that ONLY YOU can bring to the table in the unique WAY that only you can bring it.
This past week I’ve been working on a custom song for a client, and I’ve noticed that what I can give to the world is not just another song. It’s not just music. It goes way deeper than that. What I have to give to the world is a moment, an experience, an emotion. I can give something that can anchor, or cement, a relationship.
When I realize what I CAN give, I feel compelled to give it. It is a tremendous gift.
What have you got to give the world? Get really specific. Go deep. When you realize that there is something that only you can give in your own special way, you will feel a deep sense of gratitude and motivation to package it up, put a bow on it, and send it on its way.
Cheers!
