A name can carry a great deal of weight, can’t it?
Have you ever been in a conversation and done some scrupulous name-dropping?
Names can be great. Names can be infamous. Names can be forgettable or unforgettable.
What do you want your name to represent? I mean, you are trying to make a name for yourself as an artist, aren’t you?
Are you looking to make an impact? Or, are you okay with being an [insert famous performer name here] sound-alike?
If you’re trying to have an impact, leave your musical footprint so-to-speak, then you’ll need more than just great music. You’re going to need fans to impress it upon.
Today, you can impact your fans with more than just your music, though. You can actually build a relationship with your fans.
When I was growing up, one of my favorite bands was Led Zeppelin. I read the book The Hammer of the Gods. It was a story that chronicled all the band’s shenanigans and more. A must-read for Led-heads.
I can’t even imagine what it would’ve been like to be on their email list, had email been around. Can you imagine it?
Well, now you have the chance. What an incredible opportunity. You can take your fans along with you wherever you go. They get to live vicariously through you.
You know what else happens when you do this? When you write emails to your fans, what you’re actually doing is writing the rough draft of a book! That’s right. After a couple years of email communication with your fans, you can actually edit what you’ve got and publish a book! Imagine how that would sell!
Very cool stuff, eh?
So, the secret of success from George Zimmerman is that having a well-known name and an emotionally charged story can get a lot of people talking.
